Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

What an exciting couple of days to all the Potterheads around the world! (I say as I listen to the entire soundtrack of Harry Potter…) Some of you might know that there is going to be a two-part West End stage play named Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. But what you might not know yet is that there will be also released this year a new screen play book based on the story written by J. K. Rowling, playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany.

This new exciting play is scheduled to open in July of this year at the Palace Theatre in London and tells us what happened nineteen years after the grand Battle of Howgarts. The play will follow the story of Harry Potter, as a Ministry of Magic employee, and his youngest son Albus Severus Potter that is now in Hogwarts. The official summary of the play was already released. And it goes something like this:

“It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.”

But don’t be sad thinking that J. K. Rowling didn’t have her little hand in this new play because the truth is that she has been collaborating with an experienced team to bring this new production to the stage! She already disclosed some details of this new story saying that this will be a more dark story and we will see some glimpse of Harry’s childhood as an orphan.

With the announcement for this new stage play, Potterheads were excited to have their dreams come true… To see what really happened in the universe that Rowling created. But this also made it difficult for so many of us to see the play! The play is only going to be released in London for the time being so it’s hard for all of us to have access to it… For example, I was a little sad that I couldn’t see this play! Although I don’t really agree with some endings Rowling gave to her characters (Damn you Harry for marrying Ginny!).

So that’s why I was super excited yesterday when it was announced that both parts of the play’s script are going to released in print and digital formats as Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts I & II. There is going to be released a first edition called “Special Rehearsal Edition” which will correspond to the preview shows and will be published on 31 July 2016! (You’re reading this and thinking “Why is this date so familiar?” Well that’s the date of Harry’s birthday in the series!) Later they will also re-release the books as a “Definitive Collector’s Edition”.

I don’t really know about you but I’m super excited for this! I love Harry Potter and it always have a special place in my heart. Sometimes I love to read the books again or read some fanfiction to know more about this magical place! I’m excited to hear and read more about these awesome characters that J. K. Rowling gave us when we were kids/teenagers that defined our generation! What about you? I know I’m a litte like this:
